Naperville Writers Group Continues 2010 Literary Series With Presentation by Keith Anwar

The Naperville Writers Group's March literary evening will feature will feature journalist, playwright and author Keith Anwar.

Anwar, a member of the Dramatists Guild and a network playwright in Chicago Dramatists, has a decades-long background in socialist journalism. He has written extensively about the Middle East and the struggle for women's rights. His play Kabulitis has been selected by the Polarity Ensemble Theatre Company for its Dionysos Cup, a festival of new play development that will take place in May. Anwar also edited and published his father's book, Memories of Afghanistan, a memoir about growing up in Kabul and serving the government under the repressive regime of the king during World War II. He is currently working on a play which retells the story from his mother's point of view, an American who took up Afghan citizenship but defied the government's restrictions on women, in particular by refusing to wear the veil.

In addition to Mr. Anwar, members of the Naperville Writers Group will read their prose and poetry, and time will be provided for members of the public to read during open mic.

The event will be held on Friday, March 26th, from 7 to 9PM at the Barnes and Noble at the Promenade Center in Bolingbrook, 631 E Boughton Road. The event is free and open to the public. If you would like to read, please arrive early and sign up.
